Mentorship
Over the course of his life as a student, father and Soldier, Jason has noticed a number of common themes associated with one’s inability to navigate the storms of life. There is an active need for mentors to assist teens and young adults with questions and concerns associated with life circumstance they are struggling to navigate. These life circumstances are most prevalent in Black American communities.
Through one of our mentorship program, we will assign an experienced person, known as a mentor, to guide and support a less experienced person, known as a mentee. This is done by sharing knowledge, skills, and experience to help the mentee grow and develop in their personal or professional life. Here are some detailed steps in our mentorship process:
Mentorship Process
- Establish the relationship: The mentor and mentee will establish a relationship based on trust and respect. This can be done by having an initial meeting where they can get to know each other and set expectations for the mentorship.
- Set goals: The mentor and mentee will discuss and set specific goals for the mentorship. These goals should be achievable, measurable, and relevant to the mentee’s personal or professional development.
- Create a plan: Once the goals have been set, the mentor and mentee will create a plan of action to achieve those goals. This plan will include specific activities, timelines, and milestones.
- Regular meetings: The mentor and mentee will have regular meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth. These meetings can be in-person, online, or over the phone.
- Feedback: The mentor will provide regular feedback to the mentee on their progress. This feedback should be constructive, specific, and focused on helping the mentee achieve their goals.
- Celebrate successes: When the mentee achieves a goal or milestone, the mentor will celebrate their success and encourage them to keep moving forward.
- Evaluate and adjust: The mentorship process will be evaluated regularly to ensure that it is meeting the mentee’s needs and that progress is being made towards the goals. As required, adjustments will be made to the plan to ensure that the mentee is receiving the support they need to achieve their goals.
Overall, our mentorship programs are valuable tools for personal and professional development. By following these steps, the mentor and mentee can work together to achieve specific goals and help the mentee grow and develop in their personal or professional life.
